Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBBS Outpost?
CBBS Outpost is a platform for discovering and connecting with various Commodore BBS systems. It has been a long-standing service to help keep the BBS scene alive.
What is the purpose of this site?
This site aims to make available to the world, the connection information for current Commodore BBS systems.
How do I connect to a Commodore BBS?
Connecting to a Commodore BBS is simple. Just use an Internet modem and connect to the BBS with a terminal program such as NovaTerm, CCGMS, or any other favorite terminal program. Use the address and port shown to "dial up" and connect to the BBS.
Who keeps the list current?
Sysops / owners of BBS systems are responsible for keeping their information current. If you have a BBS, or you know of a BBS, then add it to the list. If a BBS is offline, you can flag the status and it will be updated. Any BBS that is not claimed by their owner may be claimed by someone else in the community so that it may be updated. However, if the true owner flags the BBS as claimed wrongfully, you must relinquish the site to the correct owner.
What does it mean to claim a BBS?
In the past, CBBS Outpost allowed the community to keep BBS information up-to-date. The system was very clunky and it was difficult for the BBS owner to keep things properly updated. In an effort to continue to allow community-driven updates, we have implemented a claiming system. Claiming a BBS allows the BBS owner to keep the BBS information up-to-date. If you are the owner of the BBS, you can log in and claim your BBS. If you are not the owner of the BBS, you can claim the BBS to keep it updated, though if you are not the rightful owner, you may be required to relinquish the site to the correct owner.
What if someone else claimed my BBS?
If a BBS has been claimed, it typically means that someone deemed it their responsibility to keep the BBS information up-to-date. If you are the owner of the BBS, you can log in and flag the BBS as wrongfully claimed by someone else and we will look into it.
What does it mean to favorite a BBS?
Favoriting a BBS means that you have added it to your favorites list. This will allow you to keep track of it and access it more easily in the future.
Is there a mobile app?
No, but our website is fully responsive and works great on mobile devices.
How can I add my BBS?
Create an account and add your BBS to the list. It is completely free.
